Bustles: Ballroom

Here are a few examples that I have done in the past few years on clean, textured, and heavily beaded gowns. These types of dresses just ask to be bustled ballroom style!

Tucked neatly under the dress and secured with cute little bows on the inside. This bustle is perfect for twirling, maintaining the silhouette of the dress and creating the illusion of a shorter version of the dress. It’s simple yet elegant! It’s not distracting, it just disappears underneath and lets all the other parts of the dress shine. If you have box pleats this bustle really lets those hang perfectly.

It can look so different on different styles and shapes of gowns! Some hang nice and close to the body especially crepe, some get really poofy especially ballgowns and create beautiful ins and outs with the folds, and some are more structured and stand out in their own in a work of art kind of way.

Worried about it being too confusing to do? No worries! Since everything is hidden I can add tiny little seed beads in a rainbow order so you just match the red marked ribbon to the red marked ring and tie a bow. Follow the rainbow, repeat if needed and that’s it. Simple and straightforward! I will also make sure we have an appointment to practice hands on, take videos and make notes. This takes the pressure off on wedding day because your person already knows what to do.

My favorite thing about Ballroom? All the hardware and stitching is completely hidden! 🤍

Downside? Because yes, there has to be one. There will be a dirt line at the end of the night on the fold line where it has been touching the floor all evening. With other bustle styles the dirt is on one hem of the train but with ballroom is about halfway down the train.

My opinion? I’m a lover of the ballroom bustle and it’s totally worth knowing it will get a little dirty. A little dirt never hurt nobody right? (cue me singing Fergie, a little party never killed nobody)

The dirt cleans up pretty well, sometimes perfectly, but it’s never a guarantee. If you plan on selling the dress, maybe consider another bustle style. If not, I say go for it and do ballroom if you’re in love with the look like I am.

Note that not all dresses look best with a ballroom bustle and there are other options for those!! We can discuss all of your options in person before you choose one.

Have this style of dress but think this bustle is a little too boring? French is a stunner too with a little more to look at!!
